Creative Control wins US in Progress Paris

Creative Control by Benjamin Dickinson won big at the Paris edition of US in Progress. The sci-fi comedy produced by Craig Shilowich, Melody Roscher, Zachary Mortensen and Mark De Pace got a range of awards including post-production services from Paris-based Commune Image, Fireflly and Eaux Vives Productions, subtitling in French and digital master offered by Titra TVS, and promotional services offered by Touscoprod and Europa Distribution, TV acquisition offered by CINE + to the French distributor of the awarded film, Producers Network 2015 invitation for the awarded producer, a special screening at the Centre Phi (Montréal) and finally selection for the next edition of the American Film Festival in Wroclaw.


US in Progress Wrocław

The second leg of the US in Progress event will take place in Wrocław on 22-25 October 2014 in the scope of the American Film Festival (21-26 October 2014). 50 buyers and programmers are expected to attend the closed screenings and a professional jury will award post-production and promotional services Award with the total value of 30.000 USD.

The submissions for films are open until 17th August 2014

US in Progress Paris took place in the scope of the 3rd edition of Champs-Elysées Film Festival in Paris, which also held official French premieres of the former participants of US in Progress – Summer of Blood by Onur Tukel and Sun Belt Express by Evan Buxbaum.

The event attracted 50 European buyers (sales agents & distributors), producers and festival programmers attended the event in Paris. Among them : The Match Factory (Germany), The Works (UK), MK2 (France), K5 International (Germany),  Memento (France), Protagonist Pictures (UK), Le Pacte (France), Wild Bunch (France), Trust Nordisk (Scandinavia), Rezo Films (France), Bankside (UK), Level K (Denmark), Bac (France), Urban Distribution (France), Wide Management(France), Versatile (France)and New Europe Film Sales (Poland).

Other films competing at the closed work-in-progress event in Paris were Automatic at Seaby Matthew LessnerEugenia and Johnby Hossein Keshavarz and Winning Dad by Arthur Allen.

US in Progress - Idea

US in Progress is the first works-in-progress event in Europe aimed at completing, promoting and distributing US independent films by showing them to European post-production houses, festival and buyers. It is an initiative by New York- and Paris-based Black Rabbit Film and New Horizons Association/American Film Festival co-organized with Odra Film/Wrocław Film Commission, in partnership with the Champs-Elysées Film Festival in Paris.

Previous participants in the program include, among others: 1982 by Tommy Oliver (Toronto 2013), Ping Pong Summer by Michael Tully (Sundance 2014, world sales by Films Boutique), Bluebird by Lance Edmans (Tribeca 2013, Karlovy Vary 2013), I Used To Be Darker by Matt Porterfield (Sundance 2013, Berlinale 2013),  Milkshake by David Andalman (Sundance 2013), Hide Your Smiling Faces by Daniel Carbone (Berlinale Generation 14Plus 2013, Tribeca 2013), A Teacher by Hannah Fidell (Sundance 2013, SXSW 2013), Jason Cortlund & Julia Halperin’s Now, Forager: a Film About Love and Fungi (Rotterdam 2012, New Directors/New Films 2012, Gotham Awards nominee), Amy Seimetz Sun Don’t Shine (SXSW 2012, Edinburgh IFF 2013, Gotham Awards nominee 2012) and Devyn Waitt’s Not Waving But Drowning (Sarasota FF).
